CURRICULUM VITAE

 

Born in Milan, Annamaria Cascetta studied at the Liceo Classico Giuseppe Parini. She gained a BA in Arts at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, with a degree thesis regarding the expressionist theatre influence on Italian theatre, with Mario Apollonio as supervisor. She obtained a postgraduate degree at the Scuola Superiore delle Comunicazioni Sociali of the Università Cattolica with a dissertation on the relation between the novel and novel serialization on Italian television, with Gianfranco Bettetini as supervisor.

 

Annamaria Cascetta has taught Theory Drama, Drama, History of Theatre, History of Theatre and of Modern and Contemporary Performance at the Faculty of Arts of the Università Cattolica in a number of positions: from 1979 to 1985 as temporary lecturer, from 1985 to 2001 as associate professor, from 2001 to 2013 as full professor and from 2013 to 2018 as adjunct professor.

From 2010 to 2013 Annamaria Cascetta was the Director of the Department of Communication and Performing Arts.

 

Furthermore, Annamaria Cascetta taught Theory Drama at the Università degli Studi, Milan, for three academic years. She also taught Drama at the Scuola Superiore delle Comunicazioni Sociali of the Università Cattolica (SSCS), now known as Scuola di Specializzazione in Comunicazioni Sociali at the Università Cattolica of Milan.

 

Additionally, Annamaria Cascetta has:

  • coordinated for a number of years the doctorate programme in Discipline filosofiche, artistiche e teatrali at the Faculty of Arts of the Università Cattolica of Milan;
  • directed various research projects for the Università Cattolica, PRIN and CNR;
  • been a member of several educational boards both at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy and Interfaculty Economics-Arts of the Università Cattolica of Milan;
  • collaborated with various institutions such as RAI (Italian broadcasting corporation), the Piccolo Teatro of Milan, the Accademia dei Filodrammatici of Milan and CRT (Centro di ricerca per il teatro) of Milan;
  • been a speaker at various national and international conferences;
  • directed and participated in various scientific research projects;
  • supervised exhibitions held at the Palazzo della Permanente of Milan, at the Piccolo Teatro of Milan and at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore on the Italian theatre between the nineteenth century and the twentieth century, on Beckett’s drama and on the revival of ancient tragedy by the modern stage.

 

Currently, Annamaria Cascetta is:

  • Academic member as well as a member of the executive committee of the Accademia Ambrosiana, ‘Classe di Studi Borromaici’;
  • Member of the executive committee of CIT (Centro di cultura e di iniziativa teatrale ‘Mario Apollonio’) which she founded in 2008 and directed until 2013;
  • Member of EASTAP (European Association Scholars Theatre and Performance);
  • Member of MLA (Modern Languages Association);
  • Co-director, with Anna Barsotti, of the series in Italian and English Canone teatrale europeo/Canon of European Drama for the publisher ETS, Pisa;
  • Director of the series Biblioteca di drammaturgia for the publisher Fabrizio Serra Editore di Pisa-Rome;
  • Member of the Editorial Board of the series Anthem Studies in Theatre and Performance, Anthem Press, London-New York-Delhi;
  • Member of the scientific committees of the journals Comunicazioni sociali, Drammaturgia and Munera.
  • Member of the Association Sigismondo Malatesta;
  • Member of the Association Scholars of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

 

At present, she is working on several research projects, including FUCE (Project European Humanism in Making), Brussels.
